WBEZ and ProPublica Illinois hosted a community forum Monday night where Chicagoans chimed in on groundbreaking reporting from the organizations about how an unfair ticketing system has caused major problems for low-income residents of the city.

The joint series Driven Into Debt showed how parking, traffic camera and vehicle tickets have led to so many fines and fees for the working poor that some people have had their cars seized and sold or even been forced into bankruptcy.

The reporting prompted all 14 candidates who ran for Chicago mayor to call for an overhaul of the system.

Morning Shift goes inside Monday night’s forum.
