White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen is no longer with the team, but that doesn’t mean Chicagoans will miss him. Guillen reportedly departs for a job with the Florida Marlins.

“I was kind of getting tired of his act over the past couple of years,” said Joe Creevy on Tuesday. Creevy is a lifelong Sox fan since his days growing up on the South Side. “Especially this year, I had some questions about his managerial moves.” Creevy said he thinks Guillen was too loyal to players like Alex Rios and Adam Dunn, whom he believes have been underperforming.

“I was sick of him. I was beginning to get a little tired of his antics,” said Michael Reynolds, a fan for 30 years. To Reynolds, Guillen was only really impressive after leading the Sox to a World Series win in 2005. He was “always talking about wanting a new contract, always cussing, always complaining,” Reynolds added.

Creevy agreed. “I think he was saying things to have them fire him,” he said.

But others are underwhelmed with Guillen’s sometimes larger-than-life personality. “I couldn’t even tell you much about him. I haven’t even followed baseball season this year,” said Marcus Robinson, sporting a White Sox jacket.

Sox fans are still optimistic about the changes Guillen’s move could mean for the team.

“You know, they won last night,” said Reynolds of the Sox’s 4-3 win against the Blue Jays on Monday. “So maybe it’s a sign from heaven, who knows. But I think they’re going to go within the organization to replace him, so it could be [a] better team.” Reynolds is betting on Buddy Bell, director of operations for the team.

But not all agree that a change of manager means a change of fortune for the White Sox.

“If they have the same team this year, going into next year, they’ll be the same way they were this year,” said Bob Dybas.
