With an ongoing population boom in urban areas, cities need trees more than ever to maintain good biodiversity and air quality. Global cooperation is a key component to guaranteeing the long-term survival of tree species. The Shanghai-Morton Joint Urban Tree Lab is a partnership between Chenshan Shanghai Botanic Gardens and The Morton Arboretum. The research initiative strives to identify and spread biodiverse plant species throughout Shanghai and Chicago. We’ll discuss the vital role of trees in urban life with Dr. Nicole Cavender, vice president of Research and Conservation at The Morton Arboretum and Dr. Hu Yonghong, director of the Chenshan Shanghai Botanic Gardens.
