Elections were held in Ukraine over the weekend and Petro Poroshenko, who is known as the “chocolate king,” won the presidency. Poroshenko, a billionaire who owns Ukraine’s largest confectionary producer, is known for his pro-European views although he also has strong business ties with Russia. Voter turnout was uneven, with just a small percentage of people casting ballots in the contested eastern regions. Chicagoan Julian Hayda, who is working on a documentary called Last Revolution, Ukraine’s Euro Maidan, was in Kiev for the vote. He’ll give us an update. (Photo: AP/Petro Zadorozhnyy)
