It wasn’t too long ago when Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel seemingly stood up for the Southeast Side residents worried about the petcoke in their neighborhood. He said he’d propose an ordinance that would tighten regulations so hard the companies handling the petroleum by-product would “choose to leave” the city. But according to some alderman, the ordinance he proposed was so watered down, City Council pushed back the vote. WBEZ’s Michael Puente gives us the latest from the Calumet River to City Hall.
