City Task Force Issues New Recommendations To Fix Broken Ticketing System
By Nereida MorenoA task force charged with examining the city’s ticketing practices on Tuesday released a series of recommendations to help low-income and minority residents cope with debt.
City Clerk Anna Valencia announced the creation of the Fines, Fees & Access Collaborative in December following an investigation from WBEZ and ProPublica Illinois on the city’s ticketing and debt collection system. They found ticketing and towing practices disproportionately impact Chicago’s low-income and minority communities.
