The dirt-poor kid from Harvey Illinois made history when he became half of the first black/white comedy duo with Tim Reid. He went on to make hundreds of appearances on Carson and Letterman, and toured the country opening for Sinatra for 13 years. Called a “pro’s pro” by those in the know, he’s also universally recognized as one of the most charitable people in showbiz.
