A committee of Chicago aldermen is signing off on over $9 million in settlements. Two of the lawsuits are police-involved shooting cases.

$2.4 million dollars would settle a case related to the 2011 shooting death of Darius Pinex. The law department is also recommending a settlement of $3 million to be paid to the mother of Cedrick Chatman. Chatman was 17 when a police officer shot and killed him in 2013.

The settlements still need support from the full city council.
