A Cook County commissioner says residents should be able to vote on whether they think Illinois should legalize recreational marijuana use. Democratic Commissioner John Fritchey knows that state lawmakers aren’t likely to approved the recreational use of marijuana anytime soon. But he’s pushing for a non-binding referendum for legalization to appear on the Cook County ballot in March. Fritchey says studies show legalizing marijuana can generate $350 million to $700 million statewide and that pot should be legal for adults over 21.
