Cook County Board President Todd Stroger says he’s working with government agencies to send medical workers and supplies to Haiti. Stroger says he’ll find ways for the county to pay for the relief effort.STROGER: The county’s whole mission is supporting people. So this is what we do and was what we’re going to do. And it would make no sense for us not to squeeze out what we can to help this relief effort.
Stroger says county officials will take an inventory of medical supplies to see what they can send to Haiti. A spokeswoman for the board president says more than 30 county nurses have signed up to go the island nation.
