A recent study found that the Chicago Police’s secret list of people likely to be involved in a shooting hasn’t been very effective at reducing gun crime. The CPD said the study was based on outdated information. But police researcher Andrew Papachristos says we won’t know what’s working and what isn’t until CPD makes public how people get put on the list, and what the department does with that information.
