CPS And Teachers’ Union In Negotiations Over In-Person School

A teachers strike could come to pass this week if district leaders and union leaders do not reach an agreement.

Thousands of Chicago Public Schools teachers and staff were expected to return to the classroom Monday, but many worked remotely instead.

The majority of Chicago Teachers Union members approved a resolution Sunday. It calls for a collective refusal to return to classrooms due to COVID-19 safety concerns.

What does this mean for the school district’s reopening plan? And what will it take for CPS and CTU to reach an agreement?
