Chicago Public Schools announced Friday it plans to shutter only four South Side high schools in the coming year. That’s despite the end of a five-year moratorium on school closings. The school system is also moving forward with two controversial plans it says will create schools that are integrated by class or race. Per state law, CPS had to announce proposed closures or mergers for the coming year by Friday.
