As much as I want to eat those Kogi BBQ Korean tacos in L.A., and would love - as my colleagues at Time Out are now advocating - to see more food trucks on the streets of Chicago, we’ll have to settle for cupcakes. For now.
The Flirty Cupcakes van/truck hit the streets yesterday, giving people the heads-up on their location via their Twitter feed. Cupcakes are made off-site (in a Chicago Health Department inspected kitchen) then trucked out to several locations throughout the day. They cost $3.25 each, and they ran out by 5:30 p.m. on their first day. Here’s wishing their success will breed other mobile kitchens throughout the city. One sign of that: Time Out Chicago reports that the next possible contender, the Gaztro-wagon, has just released its menu for their mobile kitchen.
