Cyprus has been divided since 1974, when it was invaded by Turkey. The island was essentially partitioned, with one part inhabited by Turkish Cypriots and the other by Greek Cypriots. Attempts to reach a peace accord to reunite the island have been unsuccessful in the past, but now it appears there may be some progress. After holding recent talks with the island’s Greek and Turkish Cypriot leaders, Secretary of State John Kerry said he was convinced “a resolution to the long-standing division of Cyprus is within reach.” Endy Zemenides, executive director of the Hellenic American Leadership Council, joins us to discuss the likelihood of an agreement.
