Desperate Affection from Emergent Theatre is at the Athenaeum this weekend, with dinner available: “Maddie is a charming, attractive, eccentric actress with a quirky sense of humor. Not very successful, she has settled for playing housewives dancing around a toilet in bathroom cleaner commercials. After years of failure in her personal life, Maddie had given up on finding love. Then she met Richard. Richard is handsome, intelligent and attentive. He listens to her every word and tends to her every need. After four months, Maddie has finally found ‘Mr. Right’. So, what’s wrong with ‘Mr. Right’?”

Sarah Silverman hosts 'Sarah's Pro Choice' at TBS Just for Laughs Chicago, 2012.
- Relatively new theater company Cor Res has a fundraising party coming up June 15. Mission statement? “We at Cor Res believe Chicago has two things down pat: amazing straight theatre and hilarious improv comedy. We believe they’re both great on their own, but never had been successfully combined to utilize both of their strengths.” Their second production Armageddon Pie opens in the fall,  and it came about in this unique way:  “Over a 6 month period, every year, Cor Res produces a full length comedy stage play that starts from a single idea. The actors then take the idea and together make characters, locations, entire scenes and conversations… all directed, but of their own creation.”

- The Sarah Silverman’s Pro Choice line-up has been released, and it includes Marc Maron, Chris Hardwick, Reggie Watts and Natasha Leggero, as of now. The show is Saturday June 16 at the Chicago Theater at both 7:30 and 10:30 pm. Tickets are $35.50.

- Zanies Rosemont is officially opening on July 6, with the Mayor attending a 6:45 pm ribbon cutting ceremony. Performers scheduled this summer include Jay Pharoah of SNL and Steve Rannazzisi of The League; for the fall, expect Jackass’ Steve O and Chelsea Lately‘s John Caparulo.
