La S.A.P.E. (pronounced, “la sap”) is a French acronym that stands for “The Society of Ambiance and Elegance.” It’s comprised of well-dressed men called “sapeurs” with an affinity for bright-colored, well-tailored suit ensembles. La S.A.P.E. entered popular African culture in the 1960s and is now becoming a global fashion trend. WBEZ’s Renata Sago tells us more.
