DANVILLE, Ill. (AP) — An eastern Illinois daycare center where a 4-year-old girl drowned in a pool last September has surrendered its license to the state.

The Champaign News-Gazette reports that the Illinois Department of Children and Family Service says the operator of Shawnee’s Little Shadows Daycare in Danville turned in her license earlier this month.

On September 21 of last year, Ryleigh Arnett was found under the water of a pool at the daycare center by the center’s operator. The center subsequently received two allegations of neglect.

The center’s operator, Shawnita Blave declined to talk about giving up her license but told the paper that her “heart still grieves” for the girl’s family.
