Governor Quinn on Tuesday named Bobbie Gregg acting director of the Dept. of Children and Family Services. She’s been interim director since Arthur Bishop resigned in February. Bishop was one of four people to hold the top position at the agency since last November. Gregg steps into the role at a crucial time for the agency as lawmakers and advocates are calling for changes on the heels of a WBEZ/Chicago Sun-Times investigation revealed that in recent years more kids under DCFS’ watch are dying from abuse or neglect after the department had already investigated the family.
