On October 18th, 2015, a terrorist in Israel’s Beersheba bus terminal killed Omri Levy, an Israeli soldier. Minutes later, Haftom Zarhum, an Eritrean asylum seeker, was lynched after being mistaken for the terrorist.

Death in the Terminal, a documentary by Israeli filmmakers, Tali Shemesh and Asaf Sudry, offers a minute-by-minute account of the tragic day through testimonies from people on the scene and security camera footage.

The filmmakers wanted “to present a surprising and complex picture that dismantles the concept of ‘lynch’, and challenges our ability to judge what happened.”

Worldview film contributor, Milos Stehlik of Facets Multimedia, talks with Shemesh about her film and the events of that day.

Death in the Terminal will screen at the Doc 10 Film Festival on Saturday, April 1st.
