One of the many theories surrounding the assassination of JFK is that it was a mob hit. Some say Outfit boss Sam Giancana’s influence got JFK elected-with the understanding that he’d tell future Attorney General Bobby Kennedy to leave the mob alone. Gangsters from New Orleans and Tampa were also upset at Kennedy for a number of reasons. These men were powerful enough to pull off the killing of a president. Did they do it? Scott Dietche, author of The Silent Don: The Criminal Underworld of Santo Trafficante Jr. and Cigar City Mafia: A Complete History of the Tampa Underworld offers his theory.
