More than a year and a half ago legendary Chicago film critic Roger Ebert died after a long battle with cancer. But in his final years, when sickness had robbed him of his ability to speak, he became much more than a film critic. He became a philosopher and political writer on his personal blog. And he became a champion for the public face of disability. He also wrote his memoir called “Life Itself.” That’s also the name of a documentary by Hoop Dreams director Steve James that debuts on television on January 4th on CNN. James and WBEZ’s Monica Eng the film and the public’s reaction to it during its festival and theatrical run. Photo: Flickr/yooperann
