According to Human Rights Watch, refugees like migrants and asylum seekers with disabilities do not get properly identified. They also deal with deplorable conditions and lack equal access to services in reception centers like the Moira refugee camp in Greece. Similar issues exist in Bangladesh’s ‘Balukhali’ camp, sheltering thousands of Muslim Rohingya from Burma.

To discuss the human rights crisis for refugees living with disabilities, we’re joined by Emina Ćerimović, a researcher in the Disability Rights Division at Human Rights Watch. She’ll tell us why disabled refugees have critical problems “accessing basic services, such as toilets, showers, food and medical care.” Ćerimović will speak on Nov. 8, 2017 at Human Rights Watch’s “Voices for Justice Dinner” in Chicago.
