A treasure trove of thousands of photographs depicting pre-Stonewall life in Chicago’s lesbian community are at the heart of a new documentary.

Pioneering filmmaker Michelle Citron’s project, called “Leftovers” tells the story of two women from East Rogers Park who were together for 50 years.

“Leftovers” is one of the films in this weekend’s Reeling Film Festival of gay, lesbian and transgender films.

Citron joined All Things Considered Host Melba Lara to talk about the film and what makes the images so special.
