A local incident that drew comparisons to the events in Ferguson happened in nearby Hammond, Indiana last September. That’s where two white police officers were accused of using excessive force against an unarmed black passenger in a vehicle. A video on the incident went viral and set up a national debate. But just yesterday, it appears the officers accused of excessive force have been cleared of any wrongdoing and are back on patrol. WBEZ’s Michael Puente joins us from our Northwest Indiana bureau in Crown Point to tell us more about this case.
