The November issue of Ebony doesn’t come out until October 27, but the image on the cover has already stoked some strong feelings. It’s a picture frame, containing a photo of the early cast of the Cosby Show. The glass is shattered, as if someone has thrown that picture frame across the room. As magazine covers go, this one is startling, for two reasons. First, it brings the whole Huxtable family into the conversation about the many sexual assault allegations against Bill Cosby. And Ebony magazine is a publication that has led the conversation about African American culture for decades. If the Black community has tried to stay away from having an honest conversation about the Cosby allegations, Ebony magazine just made it more difficult to do so.
