In El Salvador, an electoral court has determined that Salvador Sanchez Ceren is the country’s new president. Sanchez Ceren is the ruling party candidate and a former left-wing guerrilla. The court’s decision came down after discontent from the March 9th poll that Sanchez Ceren won by the razor-thin margin of 0.22 percent. One of Sanchez Ceren’s contentious campaign promises was to have closer ties with Venezuela. But he will have his hands full in dealing with rampant gang violence and a feeble economy.
