Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel spent Monday in Washington D.C. talking with the Trump administration about economic investment and public safety. Emanuel said he met with Attorney General Jeff Sessions and a few top White House officials. Emanuel said he shared ideas on how the federal government could help Chicago, including providing more federal law enforcement agents who live permanently in the city and more money for new technology for the Chicago Police Department. It is unclear whether the mayor talked with Sessions about a possible consent decree concerning the CPD. Emanuel said the Justice department will be in town to discuss that next week.
