The EU is looking at improving its counter-terrorism efforts in wake of the terrorist attacks in Paris. Mark Singleton, director of the International Centre for Counter-Terrorism in The Hague, joins us to discuss the potential changes in EU policy. For our World History Moment, we go back to January 20, 1841, when the British took Hong Kong. Historian John Schmidt explains what happened. One out of three “stateless” people around the world are children, according to a special report by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) titled, “Ending Statelessness in 10 Years.” We’ll talk with UNHCR’s Mark Manly about their #IBELONG campaign. African peoples, like the Mursi of Ethiopia and numerous peoples in Kenya, claim they will be ethnically cleansed and displaced by the Ethiopia government’s Gbe III dam project.
