“The Talk” is arguably one of the most awkward conversations a parent can have with their child. The average teenager sees about 15,000 sexual references on TV every year. For some parents, talking about sex can be taboo but lack of information can lead to dire consequences such as STDs, unwanted pregnancy or abuse. There’s no denying that we live in a sexual culture. So how can we create an open dialogue about sex with our young people that’s both healthy and culturally accurate? Many believe it starts in the classroom.
