Chicago may not be the first city you think of for movie making, but it does serve as the first for one facet of cinematic history. It was the first city to use local censorship to monitor the content of films shown in Chicago. The Film Censor Board functioned for 80 years. The new exhibition at Museums at Lisle Station Park, Banned in Chicago: Eight Decades of Film Censorship in the Windy City, looks at the history of the Board and what it did.
