The podcast that director Rian Johnson (Looper) called “a force for good in the universe” and the A.V. Club dubbed a “podcast institution” is commemorating its 500th episode with a live taping at Chicago’s historic Music Box Theatre! Join hosts Adam Kempenaar and Josh Larsen for a celebration of all things film and Filmspotting.

With scheduled guests Michael Phillips of the Chicago Tribune and Slate’s Dana Stevens, plus all of the segments you’ve come to love, including Massacre Theatre, the Filmspotting Top 5 and more!

Adam Kempenaar co-founded Filmspotting in March 2005 and is the show’s host and executive producer. He has a B.A. in film studies and M.A. in journalism from the University of Iowa, plus a B.A. in English from Grinnell College. Adam is a regular film instructor at theUniversity of Chicago’s Graham School, where he has taught or co-taught five classes, including Hawks vs. Curtiz: The Auteur and the Hack, Movies About Movies and Cinema Verite and the Problem of Truth. Josh Larsen joined Filmspotting as co-host in January 2012. Prior to that, he spent 11 years as a film critic for Chicago-based Sun-Times Media.
