As individual U.S. states continue to legalize or decriminalize cannabis, the plant has start to transition from a contraband substance to a lifestyle in some of the country. Public radio stations around Illinois are considering legalization throughout this week in a series we’re calling, “The State of Pot.” Publications like The High Times and DOPE Magazine have emerged to report on marijuana-related news and review specific strains and gear, but today’s guest, Joline Rivera, felt there was not enough content out there to properly introduce the drug to novices who were not interested in smoking. She founded Kitchen Toke to fill this niche. In creating a magazine dedicated to cannabis-infused cuisine, Rivera wanted to ensure that even readers without much exposure to marijuana could relate to and learn from the publication. WBEZ’s Monica Eng joins Worldview to chat with Joline about Kitchen Toke and her favorite cannabis-infused recipes.
