Earlier this month a U.S. appeals court rejected a bid for a preliminary injunction to stop force-feeding at Guantanamo. But the judges also ruled that detainees have the right to challenge the force-feeding and could sue over the way the U.S. military has treated them. Dr. Irene Martinez, a human rights activist and a founding member of the Marjorie Kovler Center for the Treatment of Torture Survivors, and Dr. Bradley Olson, a psychologist and past-president of Psychologists for Social Responsibility, and co-founder of the Coalition for an Ethical Psychology, join us to talk about hunger strikes and the role of doctors in force -feeding. There will be a screening and panel discussion of “Hunger: Guantanamo Detainees and Their Resistance” at 7 pm on Thursday, February 27th at Grace Place, 637 S. Dearborn. The event is free and open to the public. (Photo: AP/Charles Dharapak)
