When Kim Barker was the Chicago Tribune’s South Asia bureau chief from 2004 to 2009, she saw the conflict in Afghanistan transition from George Bush’s “Forgotten War” to Barack Obama’s “Good War.” Barker detailed her experiences in the book ‘The Taliban Shuffle: Strange days in Afghanistan and Pakistan’. Her book has now been turned into a major motion picture starring Tina Fey called “Whiskey Tango Foxtrot”. Milos Stehlik of Facets Multimedia joins us to ask Barker what it’s been like to have part of her life put on the “big screen.” She’ll also share some of her favorite parts from her book that she wished had made the final cut. “Whiskey Tango Foxtrot” opens nationwide on Friday, March 4, 2016. Guests: Milos Stehlik is WBEZ’s resident film critic. Kim Barker is a journalist and author of the book ‘The Taliban Shuffle: Strange days in Afghanistan and Pakistan’.
