A pair of 17-year-olds who spent time in Cook County’s juvenile jail are suing 20th Century Fox and the county over the filming of the show Empire

In a federal court filing, the two minors said the jail was on lockdown during week-long stretches of Empire filming inside the detention center last summer. That meant they could not go outside or use their normal classrooms, instead being taught in jail “day rooms” that made them stir-crazy.

Through a spokesman, Leonard Dixon, the head of the juvenile jail, said he was not legally allowed to comment on the lawsuit.

20th Century Fox declined to comment.
