The war in Syria, which began on on March 15, 2011 with anti-government protests, is now entering its fifth year. At least 200,000 have died and a resolution to the conflict remains distant. Over the weekend, in an interview with CBS News, Secretary of State John Kerry said the United States has been working behind the scenes with “a number of different critical players” to find a diplomatic solution. He also suggested that a diplomatic solution would include Bashar Al Assad. Ghassan Hitto, the CEO of the Syrian Forum, was the first prime minister elected by the Syrian opposition coalition.
