Funerals were held for several of the victims of last week’s attacks in Paris earlier today. Speaking in the French National Assembly, Prime Minister Manuel Valls said that France was “at war against jihadism and terrorism… but France is not at war against Islam and Muslims.” Charlie Hebdo also revealed its new cover for this week’s edition of the magazine. It will show a cartoon depicting the Prophet Mohammed holding up a “Je suis Charlie” sign. France continues to wrestle with questions raised in the last week about freedom of speech, anti-semitism and race relations. Andrew Diamond, professor of American history and civilization at the University of Paris, joins us to discuss the future of race relations and multiculturalism in France.
