Whether you’re a wine connoisseur, a beer lover or just tempted by tequila, the latter half of the summer is shaping up to be a boozy one. Here’s a look at what’s on tap for the month of August in Chicago.

Top-Shelf Tequila Tasting at Salsa 17

Spice up your Thursday night on August 26 with a Jose Cuervo tequila tasting at‚ Salsa 17 (17 West Campbell Street, Arlington Heights). The event, which begins at 7 p.m., will introduce guests to top-shelf Jose Cuervo tequilas such as La Reserva De La Familia, ‚ Platino, Tradicional Repocado and Tradicional Silver. A variety of paired appetizers will accompany the tequilas, and bartenders will also be shaking up Cuervo cocktails (try La Colorada, which combines Cuervo Tradicional Reposado with Amaretto Disaranno and cranberry juice). Admission is $35, and includes all tastings, cocktails and appetizers. To reserve your spot, email‚ ssotello@mktg.com or call Salsa 17 at (847) 590-1122.

Special August Left Hand Beer Menu at C-House

During the month of August, cool off with a $39 three-course meal at C-House Fish and Chops (166 East Superior Street). The special menu, which features dishes such as black cardamom pork sausage with chickpeas, almonds and harissa and stuffed bobwhite quail with corn, sourdough and grilled apricots, pairs each course with a beer from Left Hand Brewing. The menu will prove to you that beer even goes well with dessert - the black walnut pie parfait is finished with Left Hand’s Milk Stout.

Bin 36 Food and Wine Challenge

Bin 36‘s downtown location (339 North Dearborn Street) is challenging you to become a master of wine and cheese with its Food and Wine Challenge, which begins this Sunday, August 15 and ends on September 18. Those who try all twelve of Bin 36’s wine flights during that time period will receive a free wine flight every month for a year. The same goes for trying all eight cheese flights - try them all during this window, and you’ll get a free cheese flight every month for a year. And for the super ambitious souls who tackle both the wine and the cheese challenges, ‚ Bin 36 will throw in a $100 dining certificate.

Slow Food Chicago Pig Roast at Goose Island Brewery

Perhaps the only thing better than a party at a brewery is a pig roasting party at a brewery. Enjoy a three-hour ‚ feast on Sunday, August 22 from 2-5 p.m. at Goose Island Brewery (1800 West Fulton Street), when talented chefs from Chicago restaurants will prepare local pork and serve Goose Island beers. The $60 admission includes food, drink, a commemorative beer glass and an optional brewery tour, and all proceeds benefit Slow Food Chicago, a non-profit with a focus on local food and sustainability. Be sure to leave the kids at home, though - this is strictly a 21+ event.‚ Get your tickets online to guarantee your spot.
