Greg Kot has covered popular music for the Chicago Tribune for 25 years. He’s a co-host of WBEZ’s own Sound Opinions. He’s written a number of books, including biographies of Mavis Staples and the band Wilco. But his latest isn’t about a band. It isn’t about music at all.
