This past Monday, we heard from Jo Becker, advocacy director of the Children’s Rights Division of Human Rights Watch​, about the threats facing the world’s most vulnerable children. Issues like child marriage and lack of access to education are not new, however. In 2002, at a United Nations special session of the General Assembly on children, U.N. Secretary General Kofi Annan rebuked the nations in the room for their failure to adequately protect children.
