On September 22nd, Germans will head to the polls to elect a new chancellor. Chancellor Angela Merkel is up for a third term. The latest polls show that Merkel and her party, the Christian Democratic Union (CDU), have a strong lead over their nearest rival, the Social Democratic Party (SPD).
