Get To Know Chicago Guitar Legend Michael Bloomfield. Your Ears Will Thank You.

Mike Bloomfield never wanted to be famous. He just wanted to play guitar. And boy, could he play. He learned at the feet of the masters like Muddy Waters in clubs on Chicago’s South Side. He was at Newport playing with Bob Dylan when he stunned the folk world by going electric. And he influenced a generation of guitarists from Eric Clapton to Carlos Santana. But because he shied away from fame, his career never matched his talents. He died tragically in 1981.

Rock historian Ed Ward, known for his contributions to the show Fresh Air for almost 40 years, joins us to talk about his new biography Michael Bloomfield: The Rise and Fall of an American Guitar Hero.
