A new study shows that kids read for fun less and less as they get older. Not only that, girls continue to read more than boys. For older boys, 18 percent say they read daily compared to 30 percent of girls. As summer vacation fast approaches, many boys will experience a brain drain-they’ll lose reading proficiency during the break. According to children’s author Jeff Baron, reading four to five books during summer break means boys can maintain the level of reading skills they achieved during the preceding school year.
