Global Activist and policy graduate Tricia Martinez started Basic Transfer because she believes that “policy solutions are not driven by potential impact for the individual or the ability to influence large-scale change, rather they are driven by political agendas.” Her vision is to utilize technology for basic cash transfers, lifting women and their children out of extreme poverty. Martinez is back from a recent trip to Uganda. She says it was “the most amazing experience of my life.” She’ll share with us how the trip changed her mission and goals, even down to her group’s new name, Shift.
