Gov. Rauner’s Office Supports Bill To Extend Tax Credit Program

Illinois Gov. Bruce Rauner’s office says the administration supports an effort to give tax breaks to companies that move jobs to Illinois. The EDGE tax credit program expires at the end of the year but some lawmakers are pushing to extend the program. But others, like Greg LeRoy of the non-profit organization Good Jobs First say the state has more important things to spend money on, like education budgets and employee pensions. LeRoy says the EDGE tax credit program “really isn’t affordable for a state like Illinois at a time like this.”
