Last June, Metropolitan Iakos the long-serving and much-beloved leader of the Greek Orthodox Church in Chicago and the midwest passed away at 89. Last weekend, the Church installed his successor. Metropolitan Nathaniel was born in Thessaloniki, Greece in 1978. He has multiple degrees in theology and bioethics. And now he’s the spiritual leader of hundreds of thousands of faithful in Chicago, Illinois, and 5 surrounding states.
