Chicagoans remembered Elise Malary, a trans activist who was killed earlier this year, on Transgender Day of Remembrance—or Transgender Day of Resilience, as some activists call it. In her honor, Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s office pledged to participate in the Chicago Therapy Collective’s Hire Trans Now initiative, which Malary created.
