Tomorrow morning the Supreme Court of the United States will consider whether Section 5 of the Voting Rights Act (certain jurisdictions with a history of racial discrimination must have any changes to their voting laws cleared by the DOJ is still valid/necessary. We’ll do a quick dive into the law and the specific section, which could not only touch on race and voter suppression issues, but the political hot-button surrounding state redistricting and gerrymandering.
