Yemen has seen growing unrest and violence over the last several months. Last month a group of Houthi rebels took over the capital, Sanaa. The Houthis make up more than a quarter of the population of Yemen and have been fighting the central government for years. They signed a peace agreement over the weekend but have so far refused to leave Sanaa. Last week the U.S. ordered a reduction of U.S. government personnel from Yemen due to the ongoing violence. We’ll take a look at what’s behind the political upheaval in Yemen with Nabeel Khoury, a senior fellow of Middle East and national security at The Chicago Council on Global Affairs.
